This piece of short narrative sparked lots of creativity for me. As someone who enjoys cooking and often cooks with my mum for our family, I wanted to capture the process of making and cooking within this piece.

I researched bigos stew and found a list of ingredients; my aim was to capture what goes into the meal while also illustrating a traditional wholesome family meal. I wanted to capture the movement within the piece while triggering the anticipation and hunger felt before they finally sat down to eat.

I enjoy this piece as a stand alone piece but it doesn’t fit in with the rest of my work so far for this project in terms of aesthetic profile. I need to focus on introducing the object as a texture, and utilising visual replacement and surrealism to create a dreamscape for nostalgia. This piece is too observatory and doesn’t fit the bill. I need all of my illustrations to have a common artistic profile so that my final outcome doesn’t look too disorderly.
