Haiku is one of the most popular poetic forms in the world, and a fond favourite of mine. In just three lines of seventeen syllables (5-7-5), a haiku invites you to participate in a brief, meditative state through the most eloquent and charming observations.

To create the elegance within haiku, highly-focused attention to detail is needed. For the poet, this constantly attentive state and the discipline within the structure of writing become a means of self-cultivation and a source of enlightenment.
A haiku is considered to be more than just a poetic structure and form; it is a way of looking at the world and seeing something deeper, observing the world from an alternate perspective.
Here is my series of haiga, ink paintings, in response to haiku written by renowned poets.
